No Structure shall be erected or altered, used or occupied until a building permit for such erection or alteration, use or occupancy has been issued by the City. (Sec. 21-7,Idaho Springs Municipal Code)

All Commercial Construction must have a building permit and a city licensed contractor.
All Residential Construction must have a building permit and a City licensed contractor unless the home owner is personally doing the work.
Work that begins before a permit is issued will be in violation of the building code and will result in a Stop Work Order
The City currently enforces the 2018 edition of the International Building Codes and the 2020 version of the National Electric Codes (NEC).

Fences not over 6 ft. if they meet zoning and setback requirements
