A Message From The Chief

Idaho Springs Police Chief

“Commitment to Integrity and Safety through constitutional Policing and Dedication to our community.”

ISPD employs a group of dedicated and diverse officers that continually strive to expand upon our existing foundation of trust and cooperation with our Idaho Springs residents, Clear Creek County residents, and visitors to our charming City.

Our dedicated police force of trained and compassionate men and women step up to take on the responsibility to perform an oftentimes difficult, but also a very rewarding job.  We are not perfect; however, all employees are expected to strive for excellence in how they perform their duties each day.  ISPD understands that quality hiring, training, transparency, and a culture of accountability are the foundation of a professional law enforcement agency.  This is how trust is cultivated with the community and other stakeholders.

Our community continues to grow, and our police force must continue to evolve and adapt to growth.  ISPD is up to that challenge and works in partnership with our community to address public safety issues, prevent crime, and work cooperatively with other organizations to tackle social issues.  These issues are complex and include mental health crisis, homelessness, and substance abuse.  The complexity of these issues oftentimes goes far beyond the resources and expertise of law enforcement.   The nature of police work today makes our relationships with many other social service organizations here in Clear Creek County invaluable.

I am proud to lead the Idaho Springs Police Department, and I appreciate the opportunity to serve such a close-knit, passionate, and participatory group of Idaho Springs community members.

Respectfully,

Nate Buseck

Chief of Police
